| BeetleBits Favorite Beatle: Varies Counterpart Beatle: Ringo Favorite Songs:Yesterday, Across the Universe, Blackbird Favorite Album: Rubber Soul What got me into the Beatles: I wasn’t there, but I was close. It was after my bedtime when The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. Fortunately, my older brother saw the show, and drums entered the house soon after. Those first drums were Ludwigs, like Ringo had of course, but in the Blue Oyster finish. Yes, Ringo played a Black Oyster set, but the crafty music salesman, correctly guessing that our family only had a black and white TV, made the sale from what he had in inventory. I still have the blue Ludwigs but I leave them home, away from the crazy world of rock and roll. Thanks to the hours practicing to those early Beatles albums, I had a relatively easy time starting up with Beetle, and now I’m just thankful that Ringo didn’t use a huge drum set, because then I’d have to carry one that size around every week. |
